Under The Spotlight : Aliens
December 16th, 2010 § 6 Comments
Hey guys, no I am not talking about that movie with the Aliens that pop out of people’s stomachs. I am referring to the yugioh Aliens, which are reptiles.
Today I will be highlighting four cards from the group of Aliens that I feel make them competitive and will hopefully get some of you interested in building a deck of your own.
The first card is a quickplay spell card called Mysterious Triangle – Destroy 1 monster on the field with an A-Counter. Then, you can special summon 1 level 4 “Alien” monster from your deck. Destroy it during the End Phase.
This card is virtually amazing, it destroys 1 card the opponent controls with an A-Counter on it, secondly you can special summon 1 Alien from your deck, this can be used defensively or used to push damage. Not to mention synchro summoning, level 9.
The best combo for this card is the continous spell card Code A Acient Ruins – Each time a face-up “Alien” monster(s) is destroyed, place 1 A-Counter on this card. Once per turn, you can remove 2 A-Counters from anywhere on the field to Special Summon 1 “Alien monster from your graveyard.
So if the monster does die from Mysterious Triangle at least you can get counters for it, which then can inturn special summon monsters from your graveyard. The second major benefit of this card is the fact that those 2 A-Counters to special summon can come from anywhere on the field.
The third card is a monster level 1 light Retile Tuner, Alien Ammonite – When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 level 4 or lower “Alien” monster from your graveyard. Destroy it during the End Phase.
First amazing thing, sync for the level 5 Alien monster. It’s effect is decent and can help get the deck rolling it also has 2600 Attack Points.
Second the monster that is special summoned doesn’t get its effect negated, this is one of the only monsters that don’t negate the special summoned monsters effect. (Debris Dragon, Junk Synchron)
Lastly you can choose the battle position of the special summoned monster.
The last card that I want to bring to your attention is Plant Pollutant Virus (PPV), is a normal trap card. Tribute 1 “Alien” monster. Destroy all face-up monsters without A-Counters your opponent controls. Until the end of your opponent’s 3rd turn after this card’s activation, place 1 A-Counter on each monster they summon.
Reminds me of the good old days, Crush Card Virus. Just not as amazing. So lets discuss its selling points, firstly on the first turn this will be devastating. Since for the next 3 turns all monsters the opponent plays will now have A-Counters which is something we want to abuse.
Also this doesn’t restrict the opponent only to normal summons this also includes special summons and flip summons.
I hope this cards have given you a taste of the awesomeness of Aliens and you’ll want to dig through all of your cards to find some playsets.
If you guys could leave another awesome deck that I should look into in the comments I will try my best and I will try to post something on 1 of them.
Thanks for reading, see you guys later.

The Constant Control
December 14th, 2010 § 4 Comments
Hey guys,
Lately I have been trying to build a deck based around a slow paced control style, the main concept of my latest deck is abusing a large amount of traps like
Bottomless, Dimensional Prison, Magic Drain, and anything that can get a 1 for 1 trade off.
The main focus of the traps is Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, what it does is blocks 1 attack every turn. So it doesn’t loose card advantage, the way I want to abuse this card is running 3 Des Lacooda it is a monster that when it is flip summoned you draw 1 card. Once per turn you can place it back face-down.
There is also a card similar to Des Lacooda, it is Worm Linx, once it has been flip summoned during each players end phases you draw 1 card. So if this guy has been protected because of all your massive traps you will be drawing a lot of cards. Since its effect will activate on your turn as well as your opponents. (Scrap-Iron Scarecrow)
What this means is that everytime you protect it you will be drawing an extra card every turn, this can put you in a massive card advantage. Other ways to abuse this deck style is running Mask of Darkness which allows you to grab 1 trap back from the graveyard (Solemn Judgment)
In theory this deck would similarily play like Gadgets, since your monsters prolly won’t be killing your opponents monsters all they are good for is generating advantage and maintaining field pressence.
Similarily this deck uses spells and traps to destroy and control the opponent into a game state that benefits your build.
Leave a list of cards that you think would benefit from a deck like this, just remember you will be playing
3 Effect Veilers
Breaker the Magical Warrior
Thunder King Rai-Oh
as well as Book of Moons, smashing ground, and Royal Oppression.
So, leave some advice of where I can take this deck and list some cards that I could abuse.
Thanks for reading,
Just to keep you guys in the loop, I am working on making Youtube videos. I have a camera and editing software, so it will be a matter of time till I post my first video.
Thanks for the support.
If you guys want to see my latest Deck that I am trying to perfect, which is a FTK Fairy Burn deck. It works 20% of the time, but when it draws well it really works.
If you guys would like to help me out, leave a comment or send me an email, if I get a decent response I will post it up.
New Concept : Jurrac’s
December 13th, 2010 § 8 Comments
Today I am starting a new category, where I will post a skeleton to a new deck and it will be up to you guys to finish off the build.
The skeleton will be a portion of a new deck I am thinking of that is well on its way to being competitive.
Today obviously I will be posting my beginings of a Jurrac Deck.
With this I promise I won`t totally ruin an archtype like the way I have built Karakuri`s in the past.
Let`s start with the deck list,
Monster 14
3 Jurrac Guaiba
3 Jurrac Velo
3 Jurrac Monoloph
3 Hydrogeddon
2 Jurrac Stauriko
Spells 15
3 Fossil Dig
3 Solidarity
3 Book of Moon
2 Enemy Controller
1 Creature Swap
1 Monster Reborn
1 Giant Trunade
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
Traps 6
2 Spiritual Fire Art – Kurenai
2 Magic Cylinder
1 Seven Tools of the Bandit
1 Solemn Judgment
This list is technically missing 5 cards.
Lets explain the concept, you are going to abuse high attack dino`s and maintain field pressence to put your opponent in a scared state.
The main idea is to abuse cards that deal direct damage like Magic Cylinder and Spiritual Fire Art, which can deal large amounts of damge. These can also be used to slow or counter plays the opponent tries.
The dinos are good at replacing them selves and creating potential fields. The Hydro`s and Guaiba`s can search for more dinos from the deck similarily like Blackwing Shura and Firedog.
Remember Hydrogeddon is special since the destroyed monster doesn`t need to be sent to the graveyard.
Fossil Dig, is amazing! It allows you to add 1 dino from your deck to your hand level 6 or lower.
I hope this was helpful, tell me what you think and perhaps I can post a finished version up in the near future.
Thanks guys!
See you tmrw,

Under The Spotlight : Naturia Cliff
December 12th, 2010 § 6 Comments
Today I will be starting a new segment, called under the spotlight this is where I am going to talk about a card and explain why people should be paying more attention to it.
Naturia Cliff
4 Stars
Rock
1500 ATK 1000 DEF
When this card is sent from the field to the graveyard, you can special summon 1 level 4 or lower “Naturia” monster from your deck in face-up Attack Position.
Lets address some keywords used in this cards text, for example he says sent to the graveyard.
This makes him similar to Sangan, since it can be sent to the graveyard using multiple things.
As well he doesn’t need to be on a specfic side of the field, this allows you to abuse him with Creature Swap.
He special summons 1 Naturia monsters level 4 or lower, this is amazing since it has to Attack or Defense restrictions.
This card however has 2 major disadvantages, the first being a Rock! In the Bamboo Shoot deck, they are constantly looking for new ways to search out Pineapple and Cliff offers that however being a Rock would not let Pineapple use its effect to be special summoned from the graveyard.
The second major issue is that Cliff says “you can” special summon 1 monster. This can create some situations where Cliff can miss the timing of using his effect.
The perfect example is if you sacrifice him for a monarch, because you are using the monarchs effect you cannot choose to activate Cliffs.
Sangan says when this card is sent to the graveyard, add 1 monster.
This is completely different because it doesn’t say you can.
Thanks for reading, and perhaps you could tell us how you can abuse Cliff.
Leave it in a comment or send me an email. devindjurcin@hotmail.com
Koa’Ki Meiru Rush
December 10th, 2010 § 9 Comments
Today I will be writing about Koa’Ki Meiru’s, thanks for those that have voted over the last few days.
I will give you a basic strategy on how my deck runs, it isn’t a perfect build. However it can function, and it is on the right track.
The deck is very quick and it focuses on Urknight and abusing his effect, as well it relies heavily on the field card Iron Core Specimen Lab. The lab allows you to search your deck for any Koa’Ki Meiru when one dies during the end phase due to their destruction effect.
The rest is quite straight forward I hope you guys enjoy it.
Monsters 19
3 KM Urknight
3 KM Guardian
3 KM Crusader
2 KM Boulder
2 KM Wall
2 KM Sandman
2 KM Maximus
2 Effect Veiler
Spells 17
3 Iron Core of Koa`Ki Meiru
3 Core Transport Unit
3 Iron Core Specimen Lab
3 Core Overclock
2 Terraforming
1 Monster Reborn
1 Giant Trunade
1 Dark Hole
Traps 5
2 Reckoned Power
2 Core Luster
1 Solemn Judgment
So try it out, remember Lab works similar to Sangan, it allows you to set up your big pushes.
Reckoned Power is a great first turn set, it is very devastating.
Leave your suggestions in the comments please, perhaps you can help make this deck more consistent.
Following the next few days I will be covering a few cards that I feel deserve some attention. I will also talk about some new concepts for deck I have had in my head lately.
As well as where the game is going, and where it should be going.
Thanks for reading, and don`t forget to leave a comment.
Darn, I Got Harpies!
December 8th, 2010 § 9 Comments
Yesterday I recieved a comment asking me how I feel about Harpie Ladies, so on my way home from school yesterday I decided to work on a deck based around Harpie’s Hunting Ground.
The deck locks down the opponent and slowly destroys all options they posses, by abusing Anti Spell Fragrance. Anti Spell Fragrance makes both players set spell cards for a turn similar to how trap cards work.
This allows Harpie’s Hunting Ground to have multiple targets every turn.
Monsters 19
3 Harpie Lady 1
3 Harpie Queen
3 BW Shura
3 BW Kalut
1 BW Gale
1 BW Bora
2 BW Blizzard
1 Dark Armed Dragon
2 Dark Simorgh
Spells 10
2 Harpie’s Hunting Ground
1 Allure of Darkness
1 Black Whirlwind
1 Monster Reborn
1 Dark Hole
3 Book of Moon
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
Traps 13
3 icarus Attack
2 Hysteric Party
3 Anti Spell Fragrance
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Delta Crow Anti Reverse
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
1 Seven Tools of the Bandit
Hope you enjoy, this week I want you guys to tell me what to post for Friday!
I will give you guys 3 choices the one with the most comments will be posted Friday morning.
Option 1: Koa’Ki Meiru
Option 2: Heavy Trap Control
Option 3: Ben Kai
So leave your choice in the comments, or send me an email devindjuricin@hotmail.com
Thanks guys!
